On 21st September, 2017, Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy, Kolkata, celebrated Republic of Armenia’s 26th Independence Day. The programme commenced with a prayer followed by the unfurling of the Armenian National Flag by Very Reverend Father Movses Sargsyan. The students of Armenian College sang the Armenian National Anthem, the Indian National Anthem and the School Anthem.

On 23rd August, 1991 Armenia declared its sovereignty from the Soviet Union. In the wake of the August Coup, a referendum was held on the question of secession. Following an overwhelming vote in favour, full independence was declared on 21st September, 1991.

On the occasion of  the 26th Anniversary of Armenia’s Independence Day, Very Rev. Father Movses Sargsyan, Pastor of Armenian Spiritual Pastorate and the Manager of Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy, delivered an encouraging and enlightening speech , which marked the end of the programme.

At the end of the programme, there was an arrangement for refreshment for the members of the institution.
